Frequently Asked Questions
What does F1 mean?
F1 means first generation. In this case the parents are 50% Old English Sheepdog and 50% Poodle.
How large will they be?
Around 48-80 pounds but that can not be guaranteed. F1 first generation have more varied possibilities because they can also inherit genes from their grandparents. In Daisy and Benji's last litter, we had several females that are around 50 pounds and several males that are 80-90 pounds and a couple smaller males.
Will my Sheepadoodle shed?
While not guaranteed, it is highly unlikely your Sheepadoodle will shed. This is because Old English Sheepdogs do not shed (this is hard to believe with how furry they are but this is indeed the case) and Poodles do not shed. For people desiring a non shedding doodle, Sheepadoodles are one of the best options. Daisy does not shed and Benji does not shed, so odds are likely one of their puppies will not shed.
How can I choose my puppy?
We will allow you to choose via sharing our personalities observations and video/photos. Choosing is in order of deposit received. We may allow in person choosing for a select few however due to safety for the puppies we limit contact with possible contaminants until they have their first set of vaccines. We are more than happy to video chat with you and the puppies.
When can I take my puppy home?
When they are 8 weeks.
How much is the deposit?
Deposits are $500 and are non-refundable unless otherwise agreed. The deposit applies towards your purchase price. In rare situations we may refund 50% of your deposit if we find another suitable home within a short time frame.
Why is the holding fee non-refundable?
Our holding fee is non-refundable because people who are “shopping” for any puppy, rather than being committed to purchasing a puppy from Northwest Sheepadoodles can significantly inflate the number of people on the waiting list. This gives a false impression to serious buyers regarding timelines and can prevent truly committed families from reserving a puppy.
Additionally, the amount of time spent communicating with clients is significant. Just like your time is value, so too is ours. In the event that a family decides to not take a puppy, we still expect to be compensated for our time and efforts, the Reservation Fee covers this.
How much are your puppies?
Puppies are $2500. Puppies come with current vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, health checked by a licensed veterinarian, free 30 Health Insurance with Trupanion, a $15 Amazon gift card to purchase a training book, a bag of their current food, collar, chew toy, water dish, blanket with littermate and moms scent, a birth certificate. You will receive many photos and videos of your pup as it grows.
Do you ship?
No, we do not ship puppies. We are happy to meet you at the Spokane airport or elsewhere. We will meet you partway to areas in Washington, Seattle, Portland, Oregon, Montana, Idaho at no charge.
What to bring when taking your puppy home:
This is always a question that is asked but the answer is much simpler than you might think. I suggest that you bring a towel or two, just in case of an 'accident' by the puppy, and someone to hold him/her on the trip home. Most make it home without incident, but the towel will be ready in case they do not, and we will provide you with pee pads as well :) Puppies do experience some trauma when leaving their littermates. It is a bit of a shock to them and they need all the snuggling and reassurance they can get!
Putting them in a crate is too impersonal but may be the only option for you. They are lonely since they are used to having multiple other siblings to play with at a moment's notice up until that time. When you hold them, or place them on the floorboard where you can reach them to reassure them, then the trip is less frightening to them. The close contact on the trip also allows for bonding to take place with the puppy, and whoever is holding them. This is a good thing. This helps prevent as much trauma as possible and actually secures his or her dependence upon you or your family right away.
IMPORTANT NOTE* When taking the pup to a pet store, any store, or the vet, it is always wise to carry them at all times. This is because they have had only one set of shots at this time and dogs with full immunity will be tracking all sorts of diseases in on their feet. This does not harm them but can harm the young pup that is just beginning to build its own immune system now that it is away from mom. Once they have had their three sets of puppy shots you will not need to worry about this.
